Now we take a look at the green mesa research team's home research center where many scientists and men from the green mesa team research the artifacts they find. Hi, I'm your tourguide, Bart, and welcome to the green mesa home research facility. As we enter the front door feel free to sit back and relax as you enjoy the ride. This first stop is the smaller yard of the green mesa research facility. This yard contains two buildings. The building on your right is the storage building where many artifacts are stored inside their own crates. To your left is the freeze chamber and the entrance to the living quarters featuring a electric whirlpool bath which happens to be out of order at the moment. As we continue through the tunnel you will notice how old this facility is by the material the brick is made out of. Now we are entering the large, main yarf of the facility. A lot of work takes place here and is usually quite busy. The building on your left is the same building that was previously on your right. In the center of the yard is an extreamly old fountain which symbolizes the unity of the green mesa research team. To your right is the above ground industry building featuring a security tower. There are also many industrial research areas throughout this facility. Straight ahead is the living quarters. This is where you will be staying so please exit the vehicle immeaditly... -SELF DESTRUCT IN 5...4...3...2...1 - BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As the truck explodes so does Bart and the other inhabitants of the vehicle...Total Destruction! ================================================================ DESCRIPTION ================================================================ This map takes place in an outdoor environment as well as a factory. There are four outdoor buildings each containing different weapons/ ammo. There is a building accessable from the small yard which has many crates and an mp5 along with contact grenades and a PCV recharger. This building has an upper floor with a 357 and some goodies as well. This was the first building made in the map and was the last building to be finished. There is an entrance to the industrial area from this building as well. The second building is also accesible from the small yard as well as the large yard and contains a health charger, a desert eagle, and the shock roach on the balcony overlooking the large yard. There is some dustructable vents in here as well, and two different types of elevators. There are three different types of elevators in this map you should know about: 1.) platform- just step on it and it goes up. 2.) lift- these only go up, just touch the up button for it to lift you up, then it returns to the bottom. 3.) elevator- there are two of these and they can be toggled up and down by pressing the "up and down" button with your USE key. The third building is loacted in the large yard and contains the only tree along with a shotgun and gauss ammo. This building as well as the second lead to the large tau cannon room. This room contains the first trap of the map. As the storyling says the whirlpool is broken and the tau cannon is loacated in the whirlpool. If somebody presses the button above it while you are in there, you get fried. Also once the button is pressed it stays on untill someone turns it off. There is a sniper rifle in this room too you can use to guard the tau cannon. The final 4th building in the large yard contains an mp5 and desert eagle and contains the two large elevators that go down underground. There is also an elevator leading to the upper floor with the sniper rifle. Now down underground is a large industrial area. You will find several machines: 1.) Water Pumping Machine- this machine pumps steaming hot water through the pipes which serve as hydroelectric power to use in the several big machines. 2.) Hydroelectric power Machine- this is the machine with the spinning rotors. This machine provides all of the hydroelectric power to the underground industrial facility. 3.) Electric Machine- this is the large machine with a door on it and it provides the scientists with many different research options. 4.) Production Machine- this is the machine with the spores attached to it and is pumping throughout the day. This machine produces the weapons needed for the Green Mesa Research team. 5.) Unknown Machine- this machine has a orange cloud in it and gives off steam, I am not sure what this does. Throughout the underground area along with the machines you will find a 357, spore launcher, barnacle creature, the m249 SAW, and a long jump. Now there is a special door underground which can ONLY BE OPENED BY TWO TEAMATES. This is the teamplay feature of the map and there is a suprise waiting for you inside. R_speeds are generally good on this map, but reach up to a wploy of 700 in ONE spot, and average around 200-250. I have made a great effort to reduce r_speeds as much as I can. I did not include a hornet gun because I included a spore launcher this time and the hornet gun is just not suitable for this map, and it creates lag as well. I also left out tripmines because me, like most people hate respawning into tripmines and they are the worst weapon, in my opinion, anyways. I made it to where you start with 3 weapons; the 9mm Hand Gun, the Crowbar, and the Pipewrench. This should give more of a variety to getting into battles right when you respawn. All other weapons have been included. This map seems to be my best yet and will hopefully be enjoyed by all. I have put barley any gauss ammo to make the game run smoother and to reduce the amount of tau cannon kills from Tau Freaks like me. "I AM A TAU FREAK!!!" I find that many people complain about the cheap kills so this map is more for just fighting with the mp5, shotgun, or desert eagle than using the big huge guns all the time. Note: Yes there is a BFG (displacer) and you need the barnacle to reach it. ================================================================ WEAPON/AMMO/ITEM AMOUNT ================================================================ Crowbar- starts with Pipe Wrench- starts with Knife- 3 Barnacle Grapple- 1 9mm Hand Gun- starts with 357 Magunm- 2 Desert Eagle Pistol- 2 Shotgun- 2 9mm Assault Rifle- 2 Crossbow- 1 RPG Rocket Launcher- 1 Hornet Gun- 0 Tau Cannon- 1 Egon- 1 SAW m249- 1 Sniper Rifle- 2 Displacer- 1 Shock Roach- 2 Spore Launcher- 1 Satchels- 5 Hand Grenades- 3 Tripmines- 0 Snarks- 1 ---------------------------- 357/Desert Eagle Ammo- 6 SAW Ammo- 3 Sniper Rifle Ammo- 5 Assault Rifle Clip- 4 AR/Hand Gun Bullet Box- 1 Hand Gun Clip- 1 AR Grenades- 6 Shotgun Ammo- 5 Crossbow Bolts- 5 Tau Cannon/ Egon/ Displacer Ammo- 2 RPG Rockets- 5 Spores- 15 --------------------------- Long Jump Modules- 2 Batteries- 5 Health Kits- 7 Intermission Cams- 4 Respawns- 25 Teleporters- 2 Elevators/Lifts- 6 Single Player Start- 1 Traps: Hot Water, Shock Water Secrets: Hidden Snarks, Displacer Partially Hidden, Hidden AR Grenades, Some Hiding Places ================================================================ CONSTRUCTION ================================================================ Base : Scratch Editor(s) Used : Worldcraft 2.1, PAK Explorer, Half-Life Model Viewer, Sprite Viewer Build Time : About 6 weeks Compile Machine : Dell PII 400mhz, 128MB RAM, Voodoo 3 3000AGP Compile Time :QSCG- 48 sec.
